Illustrator Simon Gurr (see the two images below for other work by him) has been drawing an artist every day through December, on that artist’s birthday. Each artist is researched (click on any image to access his blog) and there is a link in the style of illustration to the work of the artist. This means appreciation of the artwork is tied up with the portrayed artist’s own approach, a bit of a double edged sword. Nonetheless, Simon’s selection is amazingly informative, the range of drawings is beautiful and the whole process has been a bit of a privilege to watch. I expect there are at least three more drawings to come, so keep a watch out on the blog to see who these are and how the work is done. Everyone who sees this will have their favourite- mine are the five sketches running from Ivana Kobilca through Nathan Oliveira to Josef Lada. Who? Look for yourself.
