It’s just great when an artist whose work you really like suddenly pops up working with one of your favourite writers, then they put in front of you what looks like it’s going to be a great story, wih a pretty, pretty cover. What’s not to like, really? This, to me is a great combination. I can see from Simon’s blog and his previous work (e.g. Dark Rain, with Mat Johnson) that he is interested in what makes a place and a certain kind of veracity. This with a big chunk of military action, a human story set within history (and possibly just a bit of glamour) is just what I’d like to read. This looks like absolutely not superheroes, and making the best out of the comic form, making something that could not be done with just words. To add to the excitement for February, here is the cover for the much anticipate New York Five, also by Brian Wood and drawn by Ryan Kelly.
