I’ve been to Sweden, and have only just got back, hence the lack of posts for Monday. However, there is much to see there, including paintings by Zorn. Stockholm is a city built on water, and at this time of year, as the season turns, the light is amazing. It was sunny, but there was a blue whiteness in the air, which you can see in some of Zorn’s paintings, and looking through the National Museum collections, you see again and again amongst the local artists. The golden hour, which here in London has been starting at around 5pm, starts at 3pm and goes on till dark, so the city is filled with people with cameras. Colour is everywhere, pushed more into contrast by the black blue grey white landscape. Zorn captures it well, although not all these paintings are of water, or that landscape.
